THE ENTRANCE TO THE TOPKAPI PALACE

Topkapi Palace has two main entrances, each leading to different areas of the palace complex:

  1. Main Entrance (Bab-ı Selam - Gate of Salutation): This is the primary entrance for visitors. Located on the western side of the palace, it leads into the first courtyard (the Outer Courtyard) of Topkapi Palace. Upon entering through this gate, visitors can access the ticket office, various exhibitions, and the Imperial Hall.

  2. Harem Entrance: This entrance is specifically for accessing the Harem section of the palace, which is located to the east of the main palace complex. Visitors must have a separate ticket or a pass that includes access to the Harem to enter this area. The Harem is known for its beautifully decorated rooms and offers insights into the private lives of the Ottoman sultans and their families.

When planning your visit, be sure to check which entrance you need to use based on your ticket and what areas you wish to explore.
